Andy Murray has expressed strong support for Jack Draper, a promising British tennis player, highlighting his impressive recovery from a series of injuries. As Draper prepares for Wimbledon, Murray commended the young athlete’s progress, describing his current level of play as outstanding. Draper, who has dropped to No. 113 in the world rankings due to knee, elbow, and shoulder issues, has been working diligently at the LTA’s National Tennis Centre to rebuild his fitness.
Murray, who has been helping Draper in an advisory capacity, has noted that the 23-year-old’s talent has exceeded his expectations. He praised Draper’s comprehensive game and quick learning ability, which have contributed to his growing confidence. Draper is set to participate in the Eastbourne tournament as part of his effort to regain match fitness and enhance his endurance across upcoming competitions.
Despite his involvement with Draper, Murray emphasized that his coaching role is adaptable, owing to his own family commitments. He stated that any ongoing collaboration with Draper would need to balance his professional and personal obligations.
Meanwhile, at Queen’s Club, British wildcard Arthur Fery achieved a milestone by reaching his first ATP quarter-final, following a straight-sets victory over Adrian Mannarino. Additionally, the tournament saw top seed Alex de Minaur maintain his strong performance with a decisive win against Dennis Shapovalov.
