Norway has pledged €90 million to aid Ukraine through the European Union’s Ukraine Facility, emphasizing support for reforms essential to align Ukraine with EU standards. This significant financial backing targets improvements in public finance, the judiciary, anti-corruption efforts, and the overall business environment.
Despite not being an EU member, Norway is integrated with the bloc via the European Economic Area. The country aims to bolster Ukraine’s institutional strength and facilitate its European integration, marking these as primary objectives of their financial contribution. The Ukrainian government has been tasked with enacting 23 reforms by the end of 2026 to secure the next tranche of funding, which is part of a €2.1 billion payment from the Ukraine Facility.
Established in 2024, the Ukraine Facility has disbursed €29.5 billion in support of Ukraine. This latest Norwegian contribution comes at a critical moment as Kyiv pushes forward with legislation to further its European integration and economic reform agenda.
