High-Stakes Diplomacy: Gaza Accord Reaches 90% Completion

by admin477351

In a display of high-stakes diplomacy, a US-brokered peace accord for Gaza has reached 90% completion, with major powers pushing for a final agreement. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Hamas has “basically” accepted the framework proposed by President Donald Trump.
The deal’s architecture rests on a pivotal exchange: the release of all Israeli hostages for an Israeli military withdrawal to the “yellow line,” its mid-August position. This is the immediate and most tangible goal of the current negotiations.
Significantly, the diplomatic efforts have also secured a forward-looking commitment. Rubio confirmed that Hamas has agreed “in principle” to a plan for the post-war period in Gaza, a crucial element for ensuring a lasting end to the two-year conflict.
President Trump has praised the deal’s terms as “great for Israel” and has backed up the negotiations with a stern warning of “complete obliteration” for Hamas if it fails to give up power. He also confirmed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is aligned with the plan.
The final phase involves settling the logistical details. Rubio indicated that the world will know “very quickly” if Hamas is serious, as these technical talks will determine whether the last 10% of the deal can be successfully concluded.
