Grokipedia: Musk’s Right-Wing AI Encyclopedia and Its Trump Admin Ties

by admin477351

Elon Musk’s new AI-powered encyclopedia, Grokipedia, is not just a technological venture; it’s a political one with direct ties to the Trump administration. The idea for the right-wing platform was suggested by David Sacks, who served as Trump’s AI and cryptocurrency czar.
Musk himself is no stranger to the administration, having served as the temporary head of the “department of government efficiency” (Doge) during Trump’s second presidency. This political context is crucial to understanding Grokipedia’s mission: to create a conservative alternative to Wikipedia.
The platform abandons Wikipedia’s human-edited model, which Musk attacks for citing “mainstream media.” Instead, Grokipedia is “fact-checked” by Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok. This AI is generating content that strongly aligns with conservative ideology.
A prime example is the entry on the January 6 Capitol riot. It legitimizes the disproven lie of “widespread claims of voting irregularities” and reframes the violent attack as a “legitimate expression of grievances.”
This ideological focus appears to be compromising factual accuracy. Journalists have already found that the AI-generated encyclopedia contains false information, such as a baseless claim that pornography worsened the Aids epidemic.
