Iran has firmly opposed Trump’s assertions, maintaining that the Strait of Hormuz will remain under its jurisdiction. Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, emphasized that Iran would uphold its blockade until the U.S. acknowledges what he described as its defeat. Furthermore, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicated that Tehran has not yet decided to re-engage in talks with the U.S., stating that resumption of shipping through the strait hinges on the U.S. meeting Iran’s specified conditions.
